With the world being turned upside down due to the challenges of 2020, we’ve seen unprecedented changes in our society. Most notably, our economy has entered into a Recession. This has been pushed to the side due to COVID-19, the Black Lives Matter protests, and the upcoming presidential election.
When there are times of uncertainty it’s important to make sure that you’re responding, not reacting. Especially when it comes to our emotions, it’s extremely difficult to manage them, but here are few ways to help you navigate through these uncharted waters.
1. REVIEW YOUR BUDGET.
Remember that cash flow is king when it comes to successfully running your life. During puzzling times, it’s super easy to fall into the trap of spending money without thinking about it. I mean, what tastes better than a pizza when you’re craving it? Yet, spending $20.00 here and there can add up to a large sum of money over the course of a lifetime.
Before this year, I looked at anything that I was paying for on a monthly basis (gym, Spotify, HULU, Netflix, etc.) and I cut out anything that I didn’t need. When it comes down to it, you need to look yourself in the mirror, and yourself,
“DO I REALLY NEED THIS?”
2. REACH OUT TO OLD FRIENDS.
Not sure what to do? Reach out to old friends and ask them how they feel about the economy from their lens. Everyone has a different perspective and in order to understand what’s going on, ask others how they’re doing during these interesting times. Worst case scenario, you can make someone’s day, just by showing them that you care about them.
3. NETWORK VIA SOCIAL MEDIA.
COVID-19 has placed a massive hold on in person networking events, but we still have the power of the internet to reach out to people directly. It may feel awkward, but there is nothing worse than taking no action at all. Figure out what organizations can help you achieve your goals, find those people who can help, and start building winning relationships.
Not sure where to start? I’ve found that simply asking someone how they’ve been doing with everything is a great way to virtually break the ice.
“ HEY __________, HOW HAVE YOU BEEN DOING…..”
4. ASK FOR HELP.
There isn’t any shame in asking someone for help. You just need to ensure it’s not coming from a place of pity. Of course, we’re all going through hard times right now.
Nobody is going to help the person who isn’t taking any action. So, when you’re targeting people or organizations that can help you achieve your goals. Just don’t take, ask what you can offer in return.
5. BREATH, SMILE AND ENJOY THE MOMENT.
Now, it’s easy to fall into the trap to place blame on all of our problems on things that are outside of our control. When you get this feeling, make sure you start focusing on what you’re thankful for.

I’M THANKFUL I HAVE A BED TO SLEEP IN.
I’M THANKFUL I HAVE FOOD TO EAT.
I’M THANKFUL I HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
I’M THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY LIFE HAS GIVEN ME.”
