Jimmy Kimmel | From the Man Show to Jimmy Kimmel Live

In life, it’s not how you start, but how you finish. Jimmy Kimmel was the host of a show that most people found repulsive. Despite what the general public thought, he was in a position to obtain experience, built a following, and set himself up for the next chapter in his life…Jimmy Kimmel Live!

When you graduate college, most of us want a job paying at least $100,000, but quickly realize that’s unrealistic  (Avg salary is around $51,000 according to shrm.com). Being a professional isn’t like being a student where you’re rewarded every time you pass a class.

Being a professional requires grit, patience, and persistence. Let’s look at our friend Jimmy Kimmel as a prime example.

Jimmy Kimmel got his first taste of success working as a co-host on The Man Show on Comedy Central. Kimmel has said that one of the reasons the Man Show ended was due to the fact

“the audience was too dumb.”

Maxim described the show as

“a half-hour of sophomoric debauchery devoted to beer and stupid pranks.”

Rather than focusing on what you don’t have, be thankful for the small wins along the way until you reach your goal. If you’re currently working a job that is helping you obtain experience, then you’re on the right road. On the flip side, if you’re constantly jumping from job to job searching for more money, then you need to re-evaluate your career choice.

Be like Jimmy Kimmel, gain experience, build an audience, and with hard work, you will find yourself in the position you’ve always dreamed of.

Happy Slacking,

Joshua Krafchick, AKA “CHACHI”
